This album was a beauty beautiful experience to make. All of these tracks come from a two hour free improvisation session that we recorded on Narragansett land in so-called providence, rhode island, in May 2022. Some of these tracks we left completely as is and some we cut in different places and rearranged but overall all this material burst out into the world in joyful fervor.

To make the sounds you hear on paint the scraps golden, all of the buzzes, burbles and bangs astrid emitted were picked up by simply a vocal mic with no processing. Deven used his trombone and trombone component parts in many many oozy, slinky, wondrous ways….and Lulu used her guitar tuned in 5ths with a few outrageous pedals, as well as releasing a few sneaky vocal blasts and gasps. Peter Traver mixed and mastered this album, transforming our two-microphone setup into a dynamically panned, quasi-multisensory experience… and Leo Porwit used the gnarliest of digital brushes to produce the album’s ecstatic cover.
